Associate Professor Vasiliki Karageorgou

Mrs. Vasiliki (Vicky) Karageorgou is an Associate Professor at the Department of International and European Studies of Panteion University of Social & Political Sciences, where she has been serving since June 2010. She specializes in European and National Environmental Law and in European Public and Administrative Law.

She holds a PhD from the Law School of the University of Cologne (2003), a Master's degree (Magister Legum-LLM) in Public Law from the same University (1997) and a Law degree from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1994).
Mrs. Karageorgou has published articles in leading international journals in the field of European environmental law and European law. She has authored four monographs, one of which in German, and has co-edited a collective work in the publishing house Routledge Earthscan. She has also written chapters in collective volumes published by leading publishing houses abroad (Routledge, Edward Elgar, Intersentia, Europa Law Publishing), as well as in Greece. She teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate study programs at PanteionUniversity of Social and Political Sciences. She is a member of scientific societies for Environmental Law in Greece and abroad.
Mrs. Karageorgou has worked as a special Scientific Associate at the then Ministry of Environment, Energy and Public Works (2001-2003), as a specialized Lawyer at the UN Programme for the Environment-Mediterranean Action Programme (UNEP-MAP) (2004-2005) and as a Special Scientist at the Independent Authority "Ombudsman of the Citizen" (Quality of Life Cycle) (2005-2010)."

PhD Candidate Dimitrios Banousis

Mr. Dimitris Banousis is a PhD candidate at the Department of International European and Regional Studies of Panteion University where he develops research activity in the field of maritime policy with particular emphasis on maritime spatial planning.

He is a graduate engineer in Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Regional Development and a holder of a Master's Degree in Environmental Governance and Sustainable Development (Jean Monnet Programme) with distinction. He is elected to the Scientific Committee of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Development Engineers of Technical Chamber of Greece.
He has many years of professional experience in structures of Administration, Local Government, Civil Society and the private economy with the purpose of designing, implementing and monitoring national and European projects with the purpose of environmental protection and climate action. She currently serves as a special expert on environmental issues at the Greek LIFE Task Force plus, providing technical assistance to the Greek LIFE community and the Green Fund.

Postgraduate Student Marianna Dimopoulou

Mrs. Marianna Dimopoulou graduated from the Department of International and European Studies of Panteion University in 2021 and holds a Master's Degree in International and European Law and Governance, specializing in "Environmental and Energy Law and Policy".

She currently works in an environmental Non-Governmental Organization, with the purpose of environmental protection policy and transboundary water management. Her research interests focus on sustainable development, European environmental policy and the development of Offshore Wind Farms and their sustainability in Greece, analyzing the challenges and opportunities that arise for the country in the field of renewable energy and environmental policy.
She has participated in the 4th Ecosystem Services Partnership European Conference: “Ecosystem Services Empowering people and societies in times of crisis”, in an oral presentation entitled: Assessment and recording of environmental damage after forest fires in the regions of Attica and Ilia, Greece.
