Professor Petros Κostagiolas

Project Team Leader for Ionian University

Mr. PetrosKostagiolas is Professor of Information Services Organization and Management in the Department of Archives, Library and Museology, School of Information Science and Informatics, Ionian University.

He holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Production Management (2000) and a BSc in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, from the same university.
Mr. Kostagiolas has published his work in leading international journals and conference proceedings. He has co-authored four management books in Greek and authored one book in English published by Chandos-Elsevier. He has been a visiting lecturer at Robert Gordon’s University, Aberdeen, U.K.
Mr.Kostadiolas is Director of the Postgraduate Program in Health Care Administration at the Hellenic Open University and Director of the “Information Technologies” Laboratory at the Department of Archives, Library and Museology, Ionian University. Mr. Kostadiolas held the position of Director of Training at the KE.DI.VI.M. of the Ionian University (2023-2025).

Professor Panos Kourouthanassis

Dr. Panos Kourouthanassis is Professor of Information Systems and Electronic Business at the Department of Informatics, Ionian University, Corfu, Greece. He has also served as visiting lecturer to the Athens University of Economics and Business, the Hellenic Open University, and the University of the Aegean.

He is currently Director of the Information Systems and Databases Laboratory (ISDLAB) of the Ionian University, Director of the Masters Programme on Digital Services and Innovation provided by the Department of Informatics of the Ionian University, and Vice President of the Department of Informatics, hosted at the Ionian University. His main research interests lie in the fields of electronic business, electronic entrepreneurship, and information systems management. He has published in leading international scientific journals and conferences (including the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, the Journal of Business Research, Expert Systems with Applications, Information and Management, the Journal of Travel Research, and the Journal of Information Technology). He is also the Associate Editor of the international scientific journal Frontiers in Blockchain that publishes research in the field of distributed ledger technologies. He is also member of the scientific committees for the organization of the most important conferences in the field of information systems (such as the European Conference on Information Systems and the Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems). His research work has generated more than 2,000 citations. Dr. Kourouthanassis has extended research and consulting experience. He has participated as project manager/ lead researcher in more than 40 innovative research and development projects funded from national and European resources. Moreover, he was the principal investigator in a plethora of consulting studies in the fields of financial technologies (fintechs), digital organizational transformation, electronic supply management, and public services digitization. His current research explores the disruptive potential of emerging technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence and Blockchain technologies) as drivers for innovation and entrepreneurship. He is also a member of the scientific committee on a variety of activities related to innovation and entrepreneurship (e.g., eVolution Awards, eNnovation student competition awards, and many innovation-related activities within the Region of Ionian Islands). He is also a founding member of the Special Interest Group on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems of the Association on Information Systems, the International Community for Information Systems (AIS) and the International Society for Logistics (SOLE).

Assistant Professor Matthew (Matthaios) Damigos

Mr. Matthew Damigos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Archives, Library and Museology of the School of Information Science & Informatics of the Ionian University, with a specialization in the management of active digital archives.

He holds a PhD from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (2011), and a BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of Crete (2004).
Mr. Damigos has published his work in international journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include information management, governance and processing, as well as systems for managing, structuring and preserving digital archives. He has been a collaborating member of teaching staff and a unit coordinator in the Information and Communication Systems postgraduate program of the Open University of Cyprus, and has participated in various research and innovation projects.
Mr. Damigos has been responsible for the development and design of information systems and data management systems in a variety of companies, such as EY, Intrasoft International, IRi, FTI, BDSwiss and Trasys International/NRB.

Dr. Eleftherios Kalogeros

Mr. EleftheriosKalogeros is a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) at the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University. He specializes in the management of digital data, information and knowledge in cultural environments.

He holds a PhD from the Department of Archives, Library and Museology of the Ionian University (2022), a Master's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Computer Networks and Communications from the Department of Computer Science of the Ionian University (2011), and a degree from the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2004).
Mr. Kalogeros has published papers in international scientific journals and conferences and has participated in scientific committees of international conferences. He has also served as a reviewer in international scientific journals and conferences. His research interests include Semantic Web technologies, linked data, cloud computing, digital data management in cultural environments and digital libraries. He is a member of the Digital Libraries and Electronic Publishing Laboratory of the Ionian University. He teaches courses such as Informatics, Databases, Markup Languages as well as courses on coding standards (conceptual models and metadata schemas) of archival and cultural data.
Mr. Kalogeros has also worked in research and development programs at the Ionian University, the National Technical University of Athens and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

PhD Candidate Anastasia Κonstantinou

Project Team Member

Mrs. Anastasia Konstantinou is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Archives, Library and Museology in Information Science, specializing in information literacy of students and professionals in the Maritime sector.

She has a degree from the Department of Archives and Library Science of the Ionian University in 2002, a postgraduate degree from the Hellenic Open University in the Administration of Cultural Units in 2018 and another from the Ionian University in the Management and Promotion of Cultural Information in 2021.
She has worked in a private statistical analysis company from 2006-2018 as a statistical consultant while she now works as an administrative employee in the Secretariat of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology on a contract basis since 2019. She has participated in various research projects related to the subject of library science and has one publication so far.

PhD Candidate Angeliki Economou

Mrs. Angeliki Economou is a PhD candidate at the Department of Archives, Library and Museology of the Ionian University in the field of Organization and Management of Information Services.

She is a graduate of the Department of Library Science of the Technical University of Athens (1991), holds a master's degree in "Library Administration and Organization with an emphasis on New Information Technologies" from the Department of Archives and Library Science of the Ionian University (2009) and a master's degree in "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies" from the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus (2025).
She has participated in the implementation of European programs, in the organization of national and international conferences and has published articles or presentations in the field of Libraries and Information Science. Her research interests focus on information literacy, user education, digital repositories, digital culture, advanced digital technologies, continuing professional development and open access and science.
She has worked from 1992-1999 in a private bibliographic software production company, from 1999-2004 in the management and implementation of the Pilot Implementation of the EPEAEK action "School Libraries" of the Ministry of Education and Culture, while from 2004 to the present she has been working as a librarian at the Library of the University of Piraeus.
